Let's see if I even remember how to do this...

Wow, it has been a LONG time since I have used the Blog. I have been struggling creatively for a few years now. This little guy has recently taken over my life...my Grandson Cole. I'm going to see if I can figure out how to update things here, I need to delete the items for sale pages, I am still selling on Ebay and Amazon and I'd love to sell through this Blog but it will take some time to get things changed. Bear with me.

Scarf Wreath

This summer I painted my front door purple...not just any purple but kind of a Barney purple! My house is a medium denim blue color so it looks awesome together but it definitely calls for non-traditional Holiday decorating colors-a traditional red and green wreath was not going to cut it. I scoured Pinterest and pinned some ideas but I am really into a "use what I have" attitude right now so I was struggling to find anything suitable. I saw one idea that intrigued me-a woman took an old sweater and cut it up and wrapped it around a wreath form....hmmmmm......I didn't have any old sweaters( major closet purge last month) but I have a few scarves that I made during my crochet phase that are ridiculously long and hard to wear. I pulled out a brilliant turquoise one and a metal wreath form(the foam one is too thick once it's wrapped for between my doors), I simply wrapped the scarf around it,let the ends drape down and wired a few dollar store snowflakes onto the front so the scarf is still very usable someday. The color is perfect! 

Gelli Print Journal

I took an online class called Monoprint Bound and learned a bunch of gelli printing techniques as well as how to create a fabulous journal with them!

This is pretty much the first creative thing I have done in close to a year...can you believe it?

Gelli printed card

I put together a cute thank you card using one of my gelli prints. I used a foam stamp on the wet paint then put the paper down, it pulled some layers of leftover paint underneath red-love that!

Alcohol Inks

Playing with alcohol inks this morning, I forgot how interesting they are to work with...simply dripping and layering,adding some blending solution,splatter some gold leaf marker,add more ink,tilting the paper..adding adding adding until you are happy with what you see. Fun stuff.

Purchasing dies

With the cost of postage sky rocketing for over seas orders I wanted to let people know that I can send one or two dies much cheaper if we do business away from Ebay- if we use Ebay I am required to use their mailing labels for shipping items so the cost is roughly $6.50 to mail one or two dies BUT if I put the same dies in a regular envelope with postage stamps it only costs $1.30..the only down side is that there is no tracking available.

Art Journal

I am not feeling the need to add any words to this page...just experimenting with layers. I ruined three black pens doing the squiggles...a fine tipped sharpie,a micron and a pilot...anyone know of a pen that will write over inks,paints and oil pastels without dying? Maybe a dip pen with india ink? But I wouldn't be able to get the continuous line I am after...dip pens are so frustrating. Well at any rate...I will call this page done for now.

New Journal pages

I took a few photos of the pages I am working in my art journal, I am almost finished with the small one(5X7) and have started on a larger one that I am declaring my POSITIVE JOURNAL...no negativity allowed! I have gessoed a dozen or so pages and finally started painting on my first one, it is slow going...waiting for paint to dry....I am not the most patient person in the world.

 THREE HEARTS...acrylic paints,spray inks,oil pastels

 REGRET...spray inks,mostly scraps from the THANK You notes I send with orders.

and the final one is the beginning of the first page in the Positive Journal...layer upon layer of paints, still quite a ways to go but I am pleased with the progress. I am obviously not one those people who can whip out a page in an hour...much to my dismay.
